Flavour in Motion

In 1886 the Franklin brothers started with a dream.

They were not established icons yet, they were just three brothers with a passion for flavour and the courage to start.

140 years later, that “Day One” has evolved into the history of taste.

You can have a “Day One” too.

It’s the first bar you ever worked in, the first time you felt the weight of a shaker, and the very first cocktail you ever learned to pour.

140 years ago, we started our motion. Show us yours

Brief

Reimagining the Spark…. Identify the very first cocktail you ever learned to make. We want to hear your story, your drinks story and the path you have travelled over the years. The bar, the mistakes you made, lessons learned, and how you felt in that moment. Then, we want you to take that memory and transform it into a 2026 masterpiece using the expertise you have earned.

1886 meets 2026 to honour 140 years of craft, your reimagined drink must be a bridge between the past and the present. You are required to prove your evolution by balancing two distinct eras of technique…

The Heritage & The Modern Motion

You must use one technique from the 1880s (e.g., a hand carved shrub, an oleo saccharum, or a traditional tea-steep). This represents the roots of our brand and the raw passion of your early career.

The Modern Motion (The Skill): You must use one cutting-edge technique (e.g., sous vide, clarification, switching, or centrifugation). This represents the expert knowledge and “motion” you have acquired as a professional.

Your drink should not just be a cocktail, it should be a narrative in a glass. It must honour the philosophy that the Franklin brothers started 140 years ago, while showcasing the technical expertise you have cultivated today.

The competition is going to be held over three stages:

  1. Initial entry 01/06/26: competitors upload their competition drink, supporting recipe, drink description, image, name and bar name to info@franklinandsons.co.uk. As well as digitally tagging us across social media by tagging us @‌franklinandsons
